The highest level of mind development is achieved when one is able to fully embrace the biblical meaning of faith. It’s definition comes from Hebrew 11:1 “Faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen”
This definition makes it clear that we are talking about something much stronger than “hope”. It uses the words conviction of things not seen. In other words our belief in something is so powerful that there is no room for doubt. This type of belief shields us from:-
-feeling deflated because we have not received
-feeling worried that something bad might occur
-getting frustrated that nothing seems to be working
-feeling fearful and anxious that we will not be able to cope
It has the great side effect of causing us to live in peace in quiet confidence knowing that at the end of the day all is well or all will be well. This is the ideal mental state that true faith elicits. It is not easy to maintain this ideology every single day. Most days we tend to fluctuate between positive feelings for the future or dread for the future which is the direct opposite of faith.
HOW TO CATCH OURSELVES WHEN WE ARE DRIFTING FROM FAITH
We should be easily alerted to an unfaithful consciousness when or if we begin to feel or speak in a negative manner. For example thinking or stating that you will never be able to accomplish something is surely a red flag. If we find ourselves drifting into a state of lethargy, normally that too is a reflection of an unhealthy mind and even possibly mild depression in some cases. Be alert to the thoughts that are going through your mind. Become attuned to your own thoughts, so aware of those thoughts that you can catch the bad thoughts and transmute them into positive thoughts. Know that positive thoughts are not the same as faith but it is an important stepping stone on the way to great faith. This has a positive impact over our physical and emotional health, so whether you are religious or atheist, it is advantageous to adopt this way of life.
POSITIVE EXPECTATION AND FAITH
If you live each day in anticipation that something wonderful will happen today, you are releasing faith! Each morning anticipate that you will meet great people, anticipate that you will have a great day, anticipate that whatever you have set aside to accomplish that day will be a success. Usually what we anticipate is drawn to us completely unawares. This is why negative people remain negative! Let them teach you how not to be! Logically when you anticipate something good, it puts you in a better frame of mind, usually a happy state. Condition your mind to expect and receive great thing each day. If there is something that you have been dreading it’s time to switch those thought patterns into new ones. Tell yourself with a smile that it will work out. Even if it does not, more than likely there is something better in store waiting for you. If you know that you will be entering into a negative environment, be on the offensive. Dont just passively and fearfully walk into that environment without first preparing yourself. Tell yourself that you are bigger and better than that environment and that it is only temporary.

People gravitate towards others that are positive. If you too are positive, then in the long term you will open yourself up to new resources. Perhaps you will receive a nod and a wink in the right direction for that new job or business venture. New opportunities open up to you when you remain positively expectant. Of course there will be times when life throws us a curb ball and it has caused sadness. The trick is not to dwell on those moments of defeat or when somebody hurt us. Switch off those thoughts in favour of the good memories instead. Pump yourself up by reminding yourself of all your previous successes or happy times. Once you have pumped yourself up stay there and regain the expectant mindset once more. I think the reason people fail at achieving the highest level of faith is because they do not realise it takes work! So it it easy to get tossed along by the ups and downs of life. This is why daily morning ritual perhaps in the form of a prayer helps to keep us on track. You can even keep an inspirational picture in your wallet, or on your dresser to remind you of that dream. This will cultivate your daily positive expectancy and in turn your faith.
Philippians 4:8 Also reminds us only to think on positive thoughts
“Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable–if anything is excellent or praiseworthy–think about such things.”
Speaking from personal experience, it is good practice to rehearse the above quote or at least remember it from time to time.
AN EXERCISE TO COMPLETELY WASH AWAY NEGATIVITY AND STRESS
The following excercise is powerful, please do not underestimate it due to its simplicity. And please remain consistent, do not skip days! Here goes….Each morning get pen and paper and write down everything that comes into your head without pausing for thought. Do not stop writing until you have completed 3 sides of A4 paper. Do not edit what you write or stop to think about what you are writing, simply write as the thoughts in your head flow. You will find that this simple exercise washes the mind before you start the day. It helps to release built up anxiety and helps you get back to a healthier mood and finally become faithfilled over time. These are called morning pages which I have discussed in another post.
