What Is Automatic Writing?
This involves posing a very personal question to yourself, a question that has been bugging you for a while may be. Perhaps you are uncertain as to what the next step should be along your journey. The tools needed to successfully complete this exercise are pen and notepad which should be kept by the side of your bed before retiring for the evening. Before falling asleep ask yourself that niggling question. This will give your subconscious time to chew over the matter as you sleep. You are not to lay awake thinking about the problem. Just trust that your inner higher self has an answer and that this will be revealed. In the same way that other past problems have been resolved this too shall be resolved.
When you awake the following morning, start writing out the thoughts that come to mind regarding that question you have. You may not have much to say or thoughts may come flooding out. Trust the process and keep on writing. Do not judge any thoughts that come to mind. Remain relaxed and calm and focussed as you write in search for an answer to your query. If you go off topic, this is fine too. Just keep writing without judging any of it. Your spirit guide wants to communicate to you and through you. This is why it is important to keep an open mind, not judge and go with the flow. If an answer does not come, repeat the process for a week. Not every question will have an immediate answer and maybe there are some questions that are impossible to answer. For the most part your solution will come.
For example, I was struggling with the question of whether I should continue to pursue a career in trading. I was struggling, yet after every struggle I would make some progress and there would be light at the end of the tunnel. I loved the high of making money. But hated the lows of losing! I posed the question to my subconscious and was duly answered in full. It was explained to me that the highs were no more than a sugar rush, that would quickly evaporate. My emotions were high at one point and low the next leaving me exhausted and drained. I could not maintain the rigid discipline required for me to make a long term success of it. Importantly, there was no room for self expression or creativity. This was telling, because I am a free spirit at heart and not suited to this type of activity. Posing the question, and listening to the brutally honest answer was what I needed. Are you in need of a brutally honest answer to a question you seek? I find this a great way to tap into the subconscious mind and find the missing piece of the puzzle. There are times we listen to the logical conscious mind when in reality we need to dig a little deeper.
It is very similar to speaking to a great friend that knows you well. But there is nobody that knows you better than yourself! It simply takes alot of courage and honesty. Asking yourself a question and avoiding the answer is one thing, seeing it in black and white is undeniably the truth.
