What Is The Power Of The Subconscious Mind: Taking The Red Pill

Subconscious mind

Intuitively we have a vague understanding of what the power of the subconscious mind is. The trouble is we choose to fight it at every turn. Instead we favour a life that is familiar, something that we don’t have to work at, or something that does not make us feel uncomfortable.

Stepping out into the power of the subconscious mind is like choosing the red pill, in the movie the matrix. In fact I have heard it said somewhere that if you are still suffering you are still living in the matrix. And by suffering I mean, sad, angry, depressed, stressed, or full of anxieties, unaware of self….., then you are caught in the matrix. For many of us myself included, like neo in the movie taking the red pill resulted in the most difficult journey of truth in his life. But the result was self empowerment, love, peace and beyond.

The potential of the subconscious mind

I have talked about this in my blog elsewhere. To unleash the true power of the mind requires letting go of blockages or “baggage” as the world likes to put it. Forgiveness and acceptance is a crucial and powerful tool in this regard. On the face of it may sound like blah, but how many of us have been held captive by fear, anger, hatred, or a critical nature. These are powerful negative emotions that keep us in bondage. In bondage meaning  in servitude to a controlling force. Relinquishing ourselves from this force allows us to more readily come into the present moment. Were we meant to see the present moment as a gift(present)? Was that meant to be the biggest clue to achieving our divine nature? I believe so. On a personal level, meditative practice has taken me from strength to strength. It has improved my mental clarity, self awareness and brought me more joy and better intuitness. Yet I know there are far greater heights for us all to scale.

The problem of letting go, recognising we think too much

Not relating to the lack of forgiveness and acceptance Proposition? Do you ever feel that you dont have enough time, enough money, a good enough figure, a better intellect. Most of us are in a mental conflict, we are forever thinking, forever analysing past events. We satisfy boredom by switching to endless activities that create entertainment but do not allow ourselves to simply be still. Because that would lead to more thought we subconciously want to avoid. What if we could suspend the mind from this busy body exhaustive worry and circling thought patterns. The answer is we gain freedom. We step outside of our individual matrix or self made illusion of the mind and into true reality. But not without the fight. We are creatures of habit that are happy to accept more of the same. The mind is great for solving problems, but after a problem has been resolved it should at once come to rest. Our minds should not be like an electrified windmill, ever turning without pause.  It would be funny if it were not so serious!

What we gain from the power of the subconscious mind

Quote Morpheus Laurence fishbourne in the movie the matrix
“The matrix is a system neo, that system is our enemy. But when you are inside, you look around, what do you see? Businessmen, lawyers, teachers, carpenters. The very minds of the people we are trying to save. But until we do, these people are still part of that system and that makes them your enemy. You have to understand, most of these people are not ready to be unplugged. And many of them so inured so hopelessly dependant on the system, that they will fight to protect it.”

That matrix is our personal recursive thought pattern unique to each one of us and dependant on our history, experience and upbringing(including prejudices). And then there are group and cultural systems of thought that we have subconciously bought into. How many of these “systems of thought” are the truth. Could freeing ourselves from many of them improve our inner and then outer world.

[Edit: In other words the Matrix can also be thought of as our needless collective pain and suffering viewed from the “above”/with consciousness.  Remember the scene in the movie where all humans are shown in their separate cubicles allowing the machine to feed off every one of us. This machine can be viewed either as evil or as collective unconciousness]

The power of the subconscious mind and meditation

When we grasp the ability to live on the present through meditative practice, the benefits are beautiful. There is a natural alignment with life itself, less friction. There is a natural peace, alertness and calm. It’s that best feeling you get whilst still on a “high” after a great holiday.

It is not a drug induced feeling of taking the happy pill like Prozac but it is similar. I know I have taken Prozac in my past. Initially it gave me confidence and alertness like I had never felt before. But after a while the effects wore off. I guess my body was too used to it or my pain had become deeper. Meditative practice trains the mind in an indirect fashion. It forces the mind and the ego to take second place, serving your needs in a healthy beautiful way.

It’s power is unique to the individual that welds it. It is something that needs to be experienced, even tasted by you before you can actually know it. Very few can say that they have mastered it. But all who have tasted it don’t want to lose it. They aim for an ever more deeper, special relationship with the universe and self. I highly recommend it.

In short there is only one  manifestation program todate worthy of consideration

  1. Great post! I love your Matrix references as I am a huge fan of the movies. I also totally agree with what you said about people not allowing themselves to be still, so many people cannot stand to simply be with themselves and instead use distractions like smart phones and gaming consoles. Meditation is an incredible tool and I know it would have a huge impact on most people if they would be open to try it. Thank you for sharing.

    1. Thank you do much for taking the time to respond, do try to meditate if you can, it is so beneficial to mind and body, peace, ann

  2. Hi Ann,

Great post and thanks for sharing.

I know the exact person who would benefit most from your article and I am going to forward this onto them. He is the most negative person I’ve ever met and he is a really good friend of mine. I trip him up all the time and try to tell him to think positive, especially about himself but it’s been really hard. I think you can help.

I will let you know what his thoughts are on this article and encourage him to leave a comment. Hopefully your website and way of thinking will change his attitude and way of thinking.

    Thanks again for sharing.

    All the best,

    Tom

    1. Thank you so much for taking the time to respond tom, look after your mind and be sure not to be drawn into negativity as it is easy for us all to be drawn into this trap and fall into an “unconscious” state, peace, ann

  3. I find to open up to my sub conscious takes a combination of meditation and removing myself from the world of phones and social media and taking a long walk! I love photography so will usually focus all my energy on this. I come back refreshed and less stressed!

    1. Thank you so much for stopping by and taking the time to comment, focussing on a passion is a good thing when it keeps you feeling refreshed, ann

  4. People so hopelessly dependant on the system, they will fight to protect it. This might be the most underrated yet greatest movie quote of all-time. It’s something we can relate to real life and we see this every single day, right in front of us. The power of letting go is a tough one to attain, but it can be done, and when it is done, freedom and peace of mind awaits.

We’re finished with the endless cycle of worry, stress, and mindless, temporary entertainment, problem-solving, only to fall right back into our little trap you deem the matrix. But when that worry ends, living in the here and now, the present moment, living for and in the moment, man, do things change, and for the better.

It pains me to see how the masses flat out refuse to come to such senses, believing this is the way things are in the world and will go out of their way to remain part of the system to the point of demonizing those like you and I who’ve unplugged and woken up, to experience something different, something higher, and something better.

If only they would listen to us, I really believe the world’s problems would be less

    1. Thank you so much todd for leaving your appreciative response to my post. We all fall under the spell of the matrix from time to time. It is so engrained in most of us. But once you have “seen the light” so to speak it becomes easier to awaken from that spell. It is a lifetime pursuit and one that gets easier over time….peace and love to you todd

  5. Ann,

Very interesting read!  With myself suffering from anxiety along with depression shutting off my mind has been a battle that I lose every time.  Because of these illnesses insomnia another plague creates more thought pattern processes to deal with.

I have bookmarked your website to do more research into possible help with how you describe the matrix.  Forcing myself to deal with all of these thoughts and then letting them go would be fantastic not positive they would help but always worth trying.  Right now my mind works like a projector with a film playing over and over again flashing when I close my eyes for sleep or even being awake I can see the movie in my head.

Thanks for some in sight into how this can possibly be of help for me,

    Susan

    1. Thank you for responding susan, it is a difficult topic to discuss in one post, there are other posts such as the benefits of morning pages and what is the power of thought that I feel would greatly benefit you. Peace and love ann

  6. I definitely believe in the power of the subconscious mind, but I guess just not deeply enough since I still suffer with depression, anger, and all that. Like many people I grew up with beliefs that are opposite of self empowerment, we were taught that we are powerless and dependent upon beings external to us. Meditation is definitely a good tool to use to access the subconscious mind, I like to do it first thing in the morning when the mind isn’t as cluttered with thoughts.

    1. Yes meditation is a great tool, i wish you great success in this, stick to it, it will benefit you in the long run, peace, ann

  7. Wow! Great article… One of the few great article I have come across in a while. There is power in the subconscious mind. It’s power is unique and when combined with meditation then the sky is the limit.

you pointed out every detail that one needs to know to understand the uniqueness of the power of the subconscious mind.

your exipository skill is great and makes the article superb

  8. This is a great article. I like how you referenced the Matrix throughout to explain the information you’re relaying here. The mind is a powerful thing.

While I’m certainly thankful for the advancement of the medical world and the emergency access to drugs when needed, I feel that there is an overuse, or over-reliance, on drugs that almost prevents people from having the desire to work on themselves because they know there is a “quick fix.” There’s a lax mindset that “If something happens, there is something I can take for it.” Proactive health isn’t as “easy” as reactive care.

I always find information on meditation interesting. Those who have never read about meditation often have the idea that it’s this weird and time consuming practice. When really, it can be as simple as going for a hike to a nice resting spot, and just sitting a moment while taking in all there is to see. Enjoying nature is amazing for the mind and body. Thanks for your post!

    1. Thank you so much chris, am glad you liked it, drugs I agree is overly used, i guess when more people begin yo search for alternatives, this kind of meditative lifestyle will explode, hopefully, peace, ann

  9. Hello Ann-

This is a very powerful post!

Today, just as I was about to begin reading the part where you introduce the need of letting go of all this unnecessary baggage, I get a surprise call from my brother and we had a heartfelt conversation about how our relationship used to be in the past-

In conclusion, that conversation was a great example of what you have expressed within this article.

Things happen for a reason, and there are no such thing as coincidence, on to go visualizing, and to imagine and feel what I want to happen in my life like it’s already happening!

Thank you for writing this awesome article Ann, I had enjoyed it immensely!

    Keep Waking Up The People!

  10. Hi Ann,

This my second post to read from you Ann and it was very illuminating to say the least. I like how you mentioned forgiveness and yes it is a powerful tool to relinquish inner turmoil.

What is worry? It is a thought process that never completes itself to a rational end. It is always buffering. The mind at this level of thought will only ever present questions but never answer them for you if you are thinking with the shadow version of yourself i.e. your subconscious.

I guess most westerners think meditation is cheessey or something but it does work. I know because it saved me from a life of pure inner turmoil. Do not ‘try’ to ‘meditate’. This ‘trying’ is not what it is for. Instead, ‘try’ nothing and then you will slip past all of those clouds of thoughts and emotions.

Let the ‘waves’ and the ‘sky’ in your mind behave how they like – they are not ‘you’ and so don’t let them dictate to you.

You will see that these two inner factors will come to calm and you will enter into a black marble state of mind where you will feel a very real and strong connection to true self and separation from the body.

At this point, even your mind will learn to drop ever so deeper and deeper into this state. Do not be frightened by an rushes of energy you may experience. This is the healing process and only you will experience profound peace.

Thanks again Ann for this amazing post and please keep up the great work you are doing here 🙂 .

  11. Many people experience ups and downs, because they don’t have knowledge of the power of their subconscious mind. Personally, I analyze a lot before making a decision because, I’m always afraid of failing. Unknowingly, I’ve allowed this fear to control me for most of my life, and I simply can’t help it. I wish I could train my subconscious mind too.

    1. Bless you Louis, there are free ideas you can use on this site to help you along, or else dive into some of the resources to build your mental stamina up a bit more. Wishing you peace, ann

  12. This is a great article. Thanks for sharing this informative and educative article. Getting myself away from the world of smartphone and spending more time with  meditation will open my subconscious mind. I think I have to adhere to things in this article. I have learnt a lot , sincerely speaking this is one of the few sites I have come across and I got moved with the article. I will keep following you to get more updates from you.

  13. Hi there.

This is an actually great post. I have always battled with negative thinking in my head. I have tried so many times to practice and learn how to meditate. But I have always struggled. The truth is I have never underestimated the power of subconscious mind and power of meditation because I really know how important those two are for success. I am always too distracted with so many things, especially my phone. But this post will really help me  a lot to build my power of meditation

  14. This is lovely and I can confirm to the fact that its a concise and thorough article. Our mind goes a long way to go in achieving greater heights; I have experience with negative thought and I know how it has affected my life. The moment I changed my thoughts; everything turned around for me. Thanks for this eye opener; I wish everyone can look into this and make use of it

  15. The video review of Blue Pill or Red Pill – The Matrix (2/9) Movie CLIP (1999) HD i just watched on your page is so lit !! Wow!! it brings a whole lot of suspense. I must get to see the movie soonest. The mind of course has a whole lot of latent potential power that most humans are yet to use. Thanks so much for this lovely post. Hope to get more of these kinds of posts from you subsequently

  16. Splendid !.  For sometime I have wondered if anyone will ever write an expository article about the power of the mind. Is their any difference between the power of Jedi and what you are writing about?.

I grew up with a wish to be able to control my mind. I suffered uncontrollable anger and seclusion. But with concentration and meditation we can a great deal of control over our mind.

  17. I definitely believe in the power of the subconscious mind, I think that if you can control the most powerful part of you then you can achieve anything. I agree that meditation and living in the present is the key to attracting a beautiful life, doing this has actually helped me control my anger issues. I have a technique where I count “3, 2, 1…” and then clear my mind completely and focus on the present and nothing else for about 5 seconds, it always help calm me down when I’m feeling frustrated with something.

    1. Thank you so much for taking the time to respond, i wish you the best on your journey to a higher state of mind

  18. Meditation deserves more credit as a way of improving one’s life than it gets. I’ve been into subliminals for many years, and got started on meditation a couple of years ago. I’ve often had problems with anxiety in the past, and have found that these things help with it. It takes more time to work than prescription drugs, but is much cheaper and safer.

  19. Hi Ann,

Life is exactly the freedom of choice. We live our lives choosing to do what we do, going to work to pay the bills to retire. I doubt many people stop to think about the treadmill we are all on. I like meditation, because it gives you an escape from it all. Calming the mind, is truly refreshing and allows us to recharge.

I remember first trying to meditate was hard, until I learned acceptance and floating in doing nothing at all, that true mediation was achieved. Depression results from a mind that cannot shut down, and I have experienced that myself. it is said, that when we care too much, we can’t let go. True internal peace comes from letting go.

I also tried the drugs for depression, and living under the influence of chemicals was not my idea of truly living. Relaxation techniques like meditation, are natures way of healing. you are giving people a way to start truly living their lives, Ann.

    Thank you,

    Chas

    1. Thank you so much for sharing chad, i am glad the days of depression and drugs are a thing of the past for you as we can heal our minds naturally but it can be tough and some(My self included in the past) do need the extra assistance, bless you, peace, ann

  20. Your post reminds me of an old story. You could probably google it to find the whole piece. I wanna say it’s called the allegory of the cave.

An individual is chained in a dark cave. That’s all he or she has known their whole life. One day, the individual is set free of the chains and is able to venture out into the light. But the light and rich beauty outside of the cave is too much and the person goes back into the cave to stay.

It all comes back to the idea that it can be the most difficult thing we ever do to leave behind what chains us and embrace a better future for ourselves.

    1. Yes Nicole, a very good insight, thank you for taking the time to share, i believe I have heard the story but forgot about it thanks for bringing it up, peace

  21. Thanks for this educative post We think that we’re in control. We believe that our conscious mind directs our thoughts and somehow controls our subconscious mind but we’re wrong, Believing that the conscious mind calls the shots prevents us from understanding ourselves, others, and how to make better decisions. but this post made me realize the subconscious mind is powerful and holds the key of shifting reality in big ways.

  22. Thanks for writing out this lovely article and I must say its a must for everyone to read and digest.our mind is so powerful and with negative thought of mind, success is not reachable .you pointed out every details about the power of subconscious mind.your article really have impact in me

Thank you ANN for writing this article, it’s really resourceful.

  23. Hi Ann Dunkley,

Well the power of the subconscious mind is unmeasurable. I have heard of this from my grandfather who were a traveller he has travelled almost over his life but he used to visit the India and China. The Indians used to meditate from a long time to prepare their body for prayer. The meditation is a long-term. After completing the meditation the are finally ready for their prayer. At the time pray they simply do nothing. They used to sit somewhere quietly and think of God. They believe if they can make God please by their prayer god will provide them a amount of energy that a man cannot simply imagine. In ancient time there are some people who pray for god to achieve this energy the Indians call them Rishi and Muni. Well my grandfather figured out that the legends of those type of prayer for God in a quiet place for a long time it is not a fake thing. While they were preparing their body for praying by meriting a long time they used to control their emotions, thoughts, anger , sadness and so on. Like you mentioned in your article. If a man can cross over those, can use his power of his subconscious mind to do the unthinkable. The Chinese use chi as a power of creation that is also a power gained from control over subconscious mind.

Thanks for sharing this article and reminding me of my grandfather.

  24. This is a an inspiring and a motivational article on the power of the subconscious mind. The mind is so powerful in controlling every of our activities. I agree with you that factors like u forgiveness, hatred, vengeance etc lock the mind up from exhibiting its true power. I was once in such situation. I never felt peace of mind because someone really hurt me and all I had on my mind was never to forgive but same time my mind was blocked. I had to let go and shift attention to meditation and exercise, then I became myself again. The mind is so powerful.
